1,2,3 - Jump - Newcastle Beach NSW

I couldn’t resist this one – this fellow stepped past me as I sat on the end of the wall at Newcastle Baths today. With surf board tucked neatly under his arm, he waded through the shallow water and over the rocks and stood waiting for the right moment, before jumping into the swirling surf. I liked this image as it again showed the diversity of this lovely coastline. Newcastle has always been a favourite surfing venue with its miles upon miles of coast line. Later we watched the tugs escort one of these coal ships, fully laden out of the harbour then turn around and escort an empty one back into the berth at the Coal Loader on Kooragang Island. For a rather overcast day, I liked the colours this shot produced.

Bev, the composition and colour here is just right! Wonderful shot!

  • Bev Woodman replied

Thanks Jan – it was a pretty bleak day here on the coast today so I was so pleased with the water colour in this one – the horizon was very hazy though with no sky colour at all.

That looks like a challenging surf. It’s all his. A great wave capture Bev.

  • Bev Woodman replied

Thanks Michael – I’m not sure why anyone would want to drop in where he is – you have to negotiate ragged rocks first – not to mention the holes between the rocks but he just walked out as if he was walking on water.

Thanks Steve – not much light today but we went in for a drive anyway.

Nice one Bev – I like the contrast of vehicles in this shot – surf board VS Ship

  • Bev Woodman replied

Thanks Di – I was initially trying to get the right wave to break in front of the ship and then this fellow walked into the picture.

It looks like he was’t sure what was under his feet lol. Great shot Bev

  • Bev Woodman replied

Thanks Julie – if it was me I would have disappeared down a hole in the rocks for sure.
