Watercolour on 140 lb. Arches cold press. 22"X16"
I don’t paint roses very often as I find them quite challenging. I decided, however, to use photos from a recent visit to our Royal Botanical Garden to try once again to paint this illusive flower. Though more detailed than I would like, I attempted to combine the looseness of the background and the negative suggestion of leaves with the more structured and sculpted bloom. I do not usually paint this way, but certainly enjoyed and appreciated the process.
