...but it was always winter in the giant's garden by

Watercolour on 140 lb. Arches cold press.
This is based on a photo posted by a flickr friend who kindly allowed me to use it as a reference. It is an old abandoned house located near London, Ontario, Canada. It is quite a sizable building and when I saw it I immediately thought of the story, “The Giant’s Garden” by Oscar Wilde. It is situated in such a stark winter landscape, which, for me, suits the mood of the house perfectly.

Painting is such an integral part of my personality and my life. I find much joy and satisfaction in the process, and if the results are pleasing then I am also gratified, but I must admit it is the process that intrigues me and sparks my creative juices.
I paint primarily in watercolour but love to experiment with other media, especially in combination with my watercolour. I would be honoured if you were inclined to take the time to browse through my work.

Not only did the painting make me want to look more closely but the title stimulated a need to know why. I do not know that story so I intend to find it and read it. Such talent to create and stimulate, wonderful. Alma

  • This is the nicest comment I have ever received. Thank you so much, Alama. I will treasure it.
