The Grand Dame of Cabbagetown by

Watercolour on 140 lb. Arches cold press.
This is based on a photo of one of the large old homes in Toronto’s Cabbagetown,Canada, which I took in the early spring. Using a technique suggested by Merv Richardson, I put the colours down first, and then carved out the house using both negative and positive painting. Merve said not to worry about perspective, and I certainly didn’t.

Painting is such an integral part of my personality and my life. I find much joy and satisfaction in the process, and if the results are pleasing then I am also gratified, but I must admit it is the process that intrigues me and sparks my creative juices.
I paint primarily in watercolour but love to experiment with other media, especially in combination with my watercolour. I would be honoured if you were inclined to take the time to browse through my work.
