Houses of Cabbagetown, Toronto by

Watercolour and ink on 140 lb. Arches 140 lb. cold press paper.
I love to visit this part of Toronto, because the homes are so varied and interesting. It is a lovely neighbourhood with a strong community feeling. Almost everyone you pass nods or says hello, and in a large city like Toronto this is quite refreshing.

Painting is such an integral part of my personality and my life. I find much joy and satisfaction in the process, and if the results are pleasing then I am also gratified, but I must admit it is the process that intrigues me and sparks my creative juices.
I paint primarily in watercolour but love to experiment with other media, especially in combination with my watercolour. I would be honoured if you were inclined to take the time to browse through my work.

How neat and charming this neighborhood looks with its bright colors! I like the ink definition you’ve added to the watercolors, and I also like the depth afforded by all the tree shadows.

  • Thank you for your wonderful comment, Celeste. I always enjoy a visit to Cabbagetown and the to the Riverdale park and farm that is the centre of the neighbourhood.

I do get to Toronto once in a while. My nephew lives there… we haven’t been in a couple of years but are hoping to make the trip this year. We use to sleep at their place but now they have 2 little boys and no extra room so we’ve stayed at a hotel that was quite a distance from their place. Nice place to visit. I just love your painting!!

  • If you get the chance to visit Cabbagetown when you next visit Toronto, Sandra,it would be a nice way to spend a couple of hours or more. Riverdale park is situated within the area and is really a delight. If you would like to meet for coffee, let me know.
