A sequence of photos taken over a 15 minute period as a new day began. Bemm River is located on the shore of Sydenham Inlet, at the eastern end of Cape Conran Coastal Park.
First I’ll try set the scene for you. In March 2005 hubby & I packed our 14-year-old son and my in-laws into a hired Tarago van and set off on a roadtrip. We live on the Gold Coast, Queensland and our destination was my hometown, Colac, Victoria. We were following the coast road and had a few stops to make along the way visiting friends & family, and doing the tourist thing for the in-laws whom had never been to Victoria. We stayed in Toukley, NSW the first night and caught up with friends who lived nearby for a BBQ. After our second day on the road we arrived, after dark, at Bemm River Hotel. We’d booked into their cabins for a two-night stay while we caught up with friends, and to give the in-laws some well earned R&R time.
I woke very early the next morning, excited to be back on Victorian soil for the first time in 13 years. I’d never been to Bemm River before so I decided to go for a walk and have a look around.

While everyone else was sleeping, I had sat on a jetty watching the most spectacular sunrise I’d ever seen.
