Red rock dawn by

These rocks are on Squeaky Beach, in the Wilson’s Promontory National Park, Victoria Australia. This was taken about 40 minutes after sunrise. The rocks are enormous – taller than a person, and the red colours are lichens.

The air was pink and smoky in the aftermath of the bushfires around Victoria.

Unreal image Bevanimage!!!! That water looks almost fake, hey?! And those rocks! Amazing capture!

  • Hi Vicki, and thanks for your very quick comment. Yes, it does look a bit “fake”; the misty light does that I think. It was utterly still and quiet on the beach except for us and some fairy wrens.

Again, that warm early light was perfect for this beautiful coastal composition Bevan, the red rock positively glows in the early light, very well composed and captured,
    Regards, Rod.

  • Thanks very much Rod; yes, you’re right, the morning light makes these rocks (or rather the lichens) glow. I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time!
