Taking flight by

Sandhill cranes, Bosque del Apache

The sandhill cranes and snow geese spend the night in the ponds and in the morning, they fly to the farm fields where they feed. If it’s cold, the ponds freeze and the birds are frozen in until the water thaws. These 3 finally broke lose from the ice and were able to take off.

Wow – and double wow. Just an incredible capture with remarkable and lovely detail. It’s as if they stopped in flight to pose for a painting! Gorgeous work!
