Art, nature, and gardens are my main interest and are expressed through writing, photography, and digital painting. I am an author of garden books and an editor. My best known book is “The Gardener’s Home Companion” published by Macmillan. I’m also a photographer and an independent publisher of specialized garden books (rock gardens, regional gardens) at my small press, B. B. Mackey Books (www.mackeybooks.com). All my work is about seeing and trying to understand the nature of the world. Hardships in childhood made me appreciative of the beauty and good things that have come my way. I want my artwork to express natural beauty but not exaggerate it.

The longer the rising time, the more crusty and crunchy the bread will be. A short rising time will be good in a different way, especially for making soft little rolls.
Cheers to the Bubble for making 2009 calendars possible. I plan to order a few as gifts. So far I have posted two calendars, “Digital Abstracts by Betty Mackey” and “Garden Days 2009…
Good news for me! Redbubble featured my image, “Oak Leaf View,” on the home page today. And some very nice old and new friends came along and commented. Thanks, everyone!
