Very unusual and Matisse-like, Betty. Definite fav!
Of course this one is reversed in the photo, because the signature is backwards.

(I did this intentionally on one of mine, just recently [the Graduate]), so maybe that’s why I noticed. :)

  • Thank you Frannie very much, I’m really glad you like this piece!:)
The photo is ok, this is how I sign my works, I’m left handed and I write can fluently for the right to the left, si I decided that this is the way how I sign my works…:)
You are the second person who noticed this, first was Sharon Shubert, around a month ago…but nobody else (or, atleast nobody else mentioned it to me)…LOL
Also, thank you for adding my work to your Favorites, means a lot to me!

After I wrote that, I looked at many others in your portfolio, and realized they were the same, so felt totally silly mentioning it. You sign from left to right — how unusual, Betty!! :-o
(Just sent you a bmail, btw. :)

  • Thanks Frannie for everything, I love knowing that you took the time for visiting my Gallery again…:))
The fact that you noticed this shows that you pay attention to my work…:))), which is very much appreciated and fills my heart with gladness!
    hugs a million, Betty

  • BTW…I have a cute story about this.
I had 3 paintings in juried show at “Crossroads Gallery” in Richmond (VA) a couple of years ago. One of them was a watercolor on stretched canvas. Was an exhibit for original painting only. My paintings weren’t hanging together.
My husband and I happened to be just behind a painter Lady there who was talking with another artist about my painting. I knew her from before, she was a watercolor instructor.
We went closer to hear what they are saying…LOL
They were examining the signature, talking about the fact that it was signed backwards. The watercolor instructor insisted that this actually wasn’t an original, but a giclee print, and that the printer made a mistake and printed it reversed. The other artist, who was actually one of her students, said that she has heard about artists signing their works backwards, and she was asking why an artist would do that. My husband couldn’t tolerate their dialog anymore and answered to the artists question by saying “Because this particular artist CAN! and this particular piece IS an original!” And they asked how do he know this? I responded “Because I AM the artist!” The watercolor instructor still tried to insist my original was a print! LOL…LOL…
