Autumn’s harvest moon shines bright orange as a result of smoke in the atmosphere from recent wildfires burning. This photograph was taken near Hereford in eastern Oregon.
The Full Harvest Moon is the full moon that occurs closest to the autumnal equinox. The bright light was often used by farmers to continue gathering harvest crops after the sun went down.
