Living a Lie

Living in no-man’s land
Living in everyone’s land
choices, choices
never from the inside out
always from the outside in
what do you like, what do you see
what do you want from me
on the outside fitting in
on the inside always out
conflict of day, contrast of night
Living my part
Living your play
… it all really is … just Living a Lie

Living a Lie by

some days there’s just no sense of belonging, no root, no anchor
some days feel like no-one really knows you – who you really are beyond the stuff they see you do
they see you as one of them, you fit the mold, you fit the picture, you play the part
yet your feelings scream of something different
and you feel alone
the duplicity
the paradox
different world that only you can marry up … or tear apart

if you’re wondering what specifically I had in mind when I wrote this … see here
as with many of the pieces I write, this particular piece flowed from the tip of my pen whilst on the beloved central line on my morning commute into the city …

What a thought provoking words, not only in your poem but in the words you have written to explain. I get your drift, i understand, sometimes we have this screen between us that others only see on the screen what they want to but on the otherside we are so different, have different views and want to be seen as us, but we only show the otherside as we do not know how to show the real us, or wonder if the real us will be accepted or heard. Great words and thoughts. Been 1 of those days. : )

  • oh Karen … :) yes yes yes :)
…“or wonder whether the real us will be accepted or heard” … you have it there :)
thank you so much for reading … and an even bigger thank you for leaving such thoughtful and heartfelt comments ! !!

Heart-felt words which I have felt more than once.
But is it a lie? We move between realities, hopes, traditions and expectations and they are diferent for everyone, so is it a lie?

  • a lie if it is Self-betrayal … and only then
the inner Self speaks a truth which cannot be denied … only hidden or temporarily ignored at best …

Hi! I like the poem a lot, and I think I know what it feels like. I am just starting to feel the same again at the moment. …………. – HUGS! :-))))))

  • big hugs and squeezes to you sweetpea …
it is not a feeing I enjoy
but I chose to take it as lesson time …
it is thorough contrast that desire is born …
so through this feeling … I get to clarify and crystalise how it is that I do wish to feel …
sweetie … I hope that your current feeling serve to bring you closer in touch with your inner Self :)
    Much love

Jipp. I completely agree with you!!! I don’t like it either but I guess it IS part of the process and it is definitely better to feel that then giving in to what you don’t want or feeling nothing at all!!!!!
    Thank you s.o.o.o.o.o. much!!!!
