much can be said about colour therapy – for or against I suppose … for those wanting a little background read, have a look at what faithful old Wiki tells us
regardless of criticism, I note within myself that on certain days I prefer some colours over others, that some make me feel more comfortable than others, that I instinctively reach for some whilst wanting to avoid others …
and never have I been more aware of my yearning for light and colour than since I’ve had a few winters in the UK …
they say that it is out of contrast that desire is born … – throughout the winter I look forward to the first signs of spring – the first swabs of colour and those extra moment of daylight and hopefully a bit of sunshine :)
So here a calender with a bit of light, colour & good feeling :)
Red – heat, danger, anger, aggression, life, passion, sexuality, daring, courage, immediacy, vibrancy
Red brings focus to the physicality of life … without it we become listless and out of touch
Orange – orange warms without burning, a dynamic energy but more thoughtful and controlled than explosive red. curiosity, exploration, creativity, instinctive problem solving, keeps us connected to the physical activity – without it we withdraw to cerebral activity, ideas, thoughts, theories
Yellow – warmth, vitality, clarity, awareness, a sense of assuredness, associated with decisions making, clarity of thought, associated with the digestive, immune and nervous systems
Green – depending on shade of green can be seen as cool or warm, gives sense of space and freedom, the power of nature – stands for the desire to grow, expand and increase – pushing out of boundaries. Also the colour of relationships as we meet, grow and expand in these encounters. Green finds new direction, new paths, it is the power to accomplish, not dominate
Blue – the colour of distance, peacefulness, communication, equilibrium – it is cooling and aids the flow of energy. Blue energy is is the skill of language and eloquence personified in the talker
Indigo – amplifies the characteristics of blue in a profound, resonant manner – while blue is cooling and quieting, indigo is sedating and is to be avoided when in a depressive mood. Indigo turns blue’s communication inwards and so it stands for philosophy, new insights and intuition, indigo is the colour of the listener – always profound and significant. Contemplative, use in spiritual contexts such as solitary meditation
Violet – a combination of blue’s cool expansiveness and red’s immediacy – used to re-balance life, to speed up the natural healing capacity of the body … balancing disparities
White – can clear away all clutter – fresh starts & new beginnings can benefit from this energy
Pink – a combination of red and white – deeper shades diffusing anger and aggression, disorder and violence, helps improve self confidence and assertiveness. Paler shades are more protective, promoting peace, self acceptance and feelings of self-worth. Representative of caring and tenderness
Brown – gives a sense of solidity and reality from which one can grow, reliability, groundedness, stability
… ~ Enjoy ~
