for my second mom with all my love

today … we got the news …
the tests have come back …
and yes … we knew … we knew before the tests were done …
but now we have been told.
it is so.
the lump …
is
cancerous
and in a whirlwind of a moment life has changed – everything has changed – everything is upside down and inside out – the feelings are huge and profound and roll along like an avalanche – yet inside is an echoing, gaping hollow void, empty of anything! devoid and black, deafening with the silence yet a million voices scream and the mind chatter makes no rational sense … the mix-up and confusions … yet … somehow … everything is numb …
and
we look at each other, we look closely to see … do you look any different … do I? ... can you see? ...
... how strange … all looks the same … your hands, your hair, your skin … we look around … and everything is as we left it … all is still in place … just like just a few short moments ago … all is the same …
but we look at each other again …
meet each other’s gaze …
...
and …
in each other’s eyes we see … the whole world has changed …

PS it is a dear friend’s mum we are speaking about here, and both have grown to mean so much to me over the many years that our lives have touched … and so I tried to write … write for my friend

    thank you Jens … these rose bushes are out in the public front garden of an care-home … two elderly ladies came out as they were on their way down to the shops … they thought I’d gone slightly mad, playing in the flowerbeds, bags to one side … lol … The roses made for such irresistible subjects though!

    thanks so much Shaun :) ... got the shot while standing in public flower bed in the neighbourhood just down from the station … the little old ladies who walked on by were wondering whether I’d quite lost the plot or what – wanted to know what I’m finding so fascinating … ... they didn’t seem to think the roses were half as exquisite as what I thought … chuckles

    she’s about half way through her course of chemo now … she’s making the most of having two or three wigs to play with and little bits like that which add sparkle and fun to an otherwise trying time … ...
    Thank you for thinking of her … ... we wait to see how her body responds to treatment … he mind and spirit remain strong though – she is a beautiful woman!
