The photo was taken in the Sonoran desert on the outskirts of Scottsdale AZ. Wild fires had destroyed many of the saguaro cacti and all the trees, transforming the desert floor. It was amazing to document the powerful creative force of Mother Earth present and at work inspite of the recent devastation. My eyes were struck by the stark contrast between the charred skeletal wood and the vivid pink flowers that celebrated life returning to the desert.
