The end of November, 2007 weather forecasters began predicting the possibility of hurricane-force winds over the coastal northwest. The storm arrived December 1 and for three days Newport, OR experienced the damaging effects of gale force winds, including downed trees and power lines. When it was safe, utility crews from all over the state descended on Newport to help repair the damage.
