Still Standing
On a visit to my Mom’s place in southern Saskatchewan, I was happy to see that one of the grain elevators was left standing in her town. A resident bought it and still operates it privately. It was sad to see so many others gone or in disrepair as we drove through my old stomping grounds.

Welcome to Prairie Elevators of the Past Beth! This is a beautiful first image from you, and we wouldn’t even mind seeing some of the ones in disrepair you mentioned. I’m glad this old icon is still used, there is still life in this old building,,,,,,,,,,thanks for sending Beth to us John!!!

Hi Vickie, I’ll see what I can find … but I don’t think there are many. Unfortunately I had only two days in Saskatchewan and each stop to take photos created duress on the rest of my travelling party. I plan on going back next spring with more time to explore on my own. My father was the poultry inspector for the province of Saskatchewan while I was growing up. I got to travel to many of these communities with him on my summer vacations. When I return to visit, the first thing I look for is the elevators. It’s sad to see them disappearing.

that’s quite alright Beth…........now when you do see another and you have the opportunity to get some more photos, please think of us. you now have a place to showcase them.

It’s such a neat part of the world. I don’t realise how much I miss it until I go back home. I really enjoyed taking my camera with me this time.
