Lakes District, England in Oils

Lakes District, England in Oils

This is one of my own favourite paintings. I did it over 20 years ago and takes prode of place in my Lounge room.

I painted it off a photo my dad took on my parents first trip. A few years later I was able to go there myself and find the spot and take my own picture, mine was not as appealing as dad’s as the mountains did not have the nice layered look as this one.

Painted in Oils.

BEAUTIFUL work! Love that feeling of distance and the subdued colours. I really get the sense that this is a wet and dreary day.

Ah, the Honister pass (I think).
I only live a couple of hours drive away, but rarely visit. This is a wonderful oil painting. You’ve captured the essence of the changeable climate, mirrored in the misty mountain tops, yet with beautifully coloured lower slopes. And the dark, damp, possibly recently rained upon, winding road.
    Excellent!

I would love to get back here some day, this part of England was just beautiful. Changeable climate! That is pretty much how it is in Melbourne at the moment, with not so much rain and the scenery, at least were I am.
