The echoes of the past haunt this now empty Tudor manor house, so beautifully restored in the 1920s by the Lyle family.
They lived in style, installing a sprung dance floor; the winding mechanism can still be seen under the sweeping main staircase.
What were once cow yards, pens and fields became delightful flower gardens, their design influenced by Gertrude Jekyll.
The working stone-walled kitchen garden produces a variety of wonderful fruit and vegetables, which can be enjoyed in the restaurant, while the arboretum delights visitors with vivid autumn hues.
That is so sad that it is empty now, what a beautiful place it must have been. Great lighting and tones Sam! :)
We went there expecting to to still be full of the most gorgeous furniture etc , and it was totally empty! I’m going back again with a few lights to do some portraits in the huge rooms :)
This is so hauntingly beautiful. Where is Barrington Court, pls? Love the tones. An instant fave. Well done.
Hi Elana, thanks for commenting! It’s probably quite a ways away from you at the moment, it’s near Ilminster in Devon, England… It’s looked after by the National Trust, but apart from this (the back of the house) there’s not much else to see! Sam

Sam, many thanks for this. I used to live in the UK, so I was interested to see where it was. Cheers.
