It’s the tallest mountain in Germany, borders onto Austria (whose tallest mountain it is not), and rather than having to risk frostbite or windchill getting to the summit, there’s a pretty nice observation deck and even a nice cafe.

And it even replaced this photo as my current desktop theme (I always try to take a photo good enough to use as a desktop whenever I go skiing!)

Bernd Talasch doesn’t remember being hatched in a research laboratory in Omaha in the late 1950s so maybe that never happened. (Placeholder bio – remember to replace).

Lol… you have such a great way with words…
Judging by the reflection on the left, you were busy enjoying said observation deck/cafe to take this fine photograph :) What a stunning view!!

  • Observation deck : yes, that’s where I took the photo. The cafe was good though, and the lower view gave more of the valley while making the peak look more impressive AND polarising effect of the glass made the colours much deeper and nicer…. however it was also too highly reflective and I couldn’t avoid the lens itself being reflected! Hence… exterior shot. Never mind 8)
