What makes me post a photo of such a commonly and easily taken view, regardless of how spectacular?
Primarily because of the timing – the lights of the city have only just come on. Specifically, the top of the Empire State Building which is usually all white (or green/red for the holidays) has not yet come on.
In other words – this specific lighting is not commonly captured.
Also it was taken on a Nokia N8 mobile. The Pentax was almost out of batteries and I was saving them for long exposures. (Fittingly, THOSE look fairly common while also being better quality….)
Bernd Talasch doesn’t remember being hatched in a research laboratory in Omaha in the late 1950s so maybe that never happened. (Placeholder bio – remember to replace).

i agree with Lisa, not common to me either. i bet ten people shooting at the same time would come out with ten different interpretations of this scene. you have made it yours and thats what counts. super light. amazing shot for cell camera. well done.
