Artist's Description

I was only going to post a shot of this castle if I could add anything to the shots of the castle already on Redbubble. In this case – I think so. This was taken with an ultrawide angle lens (10-20mm) at a time of spring when swathes of colour were only just starting to displace the snow still on the ground.

(I went to Germany when it was already starting to get warm in the early spring of April, not quite intuitively grasping the fact that just because it’s getting warm elsewhere doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s warm In The German Alps . In other words, my sneakers and jeans weren’t exactly entirely fitting attire for the trip to Bavaria’s famous castle.)

For anyone wanting to go there, it’s definitely worth it (I went during the quieter non-summer period) – also worth checking out the cute nearby village. Once you’re at the castle, the view from the bridge is pretty good but if you want BETTER you need to walk a bit higher where the trails are less ‘safe’. Sadly, the “Classic” shot on the postcards and jigsaw puzzles requires quite a lengthy trek to get to, and my understanding of German was rudimentary enough to recognise “Life Threatening Danger” on trail signage so I was prevented from taking that famous shot.
