Shinkansen (Bullet Train) Tokyo, Japan.

If a train like this is running late (which it never is, this being Japan), it will still look pretty awesome doing so. It looks fast even when it’s not moving.

And I think the mean look is its own fare evasion deterrent!

Bernd Talasch doesn’t remember being hatched in a research laboratory in Omaha in the late 1950s so maybe that never happened. (Placeholder bio – remember to replace).

Talking of a train running late: it is said that if the shinkansen is more than ONE MINUTE late then the driver is sent back on a FOUR MONTH TRAINING COURSE – till he or she gets the concept of BEING ON TIME.
When I was there I always checked the train times and they were ALWAYS 2 minutes early or at least just that ONE MINUTE early and then the passengers had 60 seconds to board the train OR MISS IT :-))
Talking of photos – perfection once again – I am biased to Japan related photography.
Love your title – I can certainly see the resemblance: These are not the droids you are looking for"
Love the diagonal of the roof in jet black at top left and the left to right flowing lines of the train which aim to bottom left corner of frame. Composition with a really tightly filled frame (very nicely done).
Also the diagonals of the wires in the frame also add to everything.

  • thank you so much for that – I LOVE Japan. I had the good fortune to be there on travels for a month earlier this year. I’d been there before, but I hadn’t previously had a chance to explore the cities in more depth (Osaka and Kyoto especially!)
