When I last posted one of these, it was still November last year and I’d photographed author PD James, actress Kristen Stewart, a squirrel and Basil Fawlty . In an attempt to drag myself into a more ‘current’ period, here’s how the following twenty days or so went down:

November 27th. My fetish for (of all things) TABLES resurfaced at West Hampstead today – my apartment now has six…. in two rooms. (And not counting my innovative ‘cardboard box’ coffee table). In other news, I may also have watched latest Twilight movie, which may or may not have been hilariously awful.

November 28th. Director Martin Scorcese at the Hugo Royal premiere .Neat-o! I call this photo Marty because, yeah, I’m totally on a first name basis…

November 29th. Pigeons, Kensington.

November 30th. Haven’t been past Buckingham Palace ways for a while – that MBE is still proving elusive.

December 1st. Christmas dinner at The Ivy in London? Yes we can!

December 2nd. Tower Bridge, London. In related (and nearby) news, the British seem disproportionately dismissive of their bloodthirsty past – never forget, the pleasantly heated stone chapel in the Tower of London sits atop a mass grave of some 1500 bodies! (After that we went to Starbucks). I informatively call this photo Tower Bridge Silhouette, London

December 4th. Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes) shows up at the British Independent Film Awards. Other notable attendees at the ill-lit, cold, rainy, and occasionally snubbed event included director Ron Howard, a couple of people from Game of Thrones, the girl from Captain America and Michael Fassbender (who opted not to show his face to fans). Wow. I was so busy I never even posted a journal of that auspicious event…

Dec 5th. It’s something

December 6th. It’s a non-Pentax. A wild, crazy, amazing non-Pentax.

December 7th. Oh, my. And it’s _Christmas _ and everything. Tsk, tsk.

December 8th. And now we’re in Nuremburg. Because that’s where 1500 kids are given candlelit lanterns and allowed to walk uphill on cobblestones in proximity to adults consuming alcohol and nobody in OH&S faints with the insanity of it all.

Dec 9th. Nuernburg by late evening. A second day of dampfknoedel with vanilla sauce and selected fruit, and exceedingly powerful street alcohol. Love(d) it!

Dec 10th. I don’t want this to be my photo for the day. I shouldn’t even have taken it. This shouldn’t even be ALLOWED. But, there it is. A man dressed up as a turkey.

Dec 11. Hatfield by night. It’s not too dissimilar to Paris, France, when compared to Mongolian villages or Bedouin tent camps.

Dec 12th. Rooney Mara looking stoically cool at the The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo premiere Charles and Camilla attended, director David Fincher did not. Also, amazingly, the much-commented-upon work DCraig was taken at that premiere (but is not photo for the day)

Dec 13th. Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol premiere Tom Cruise’s assistant assumed our merry band of photographers were a lost tribe of Paparazzi so we didn’t get photos with him, but he’s still cool. I call this photo Mr Tom Cruise

Dec 14th. Seven Dials Christmas Decorations, London. Time to get some rapid-fire Christmas shopping done….

Dec 15th. As Photo For The Day goes, I’ll be honest this is not one of the brightest stars. Still, the US are apparently out of Iraq now, with a mere 15000 people in their embassy (?). I, meanwhile, am heading to an airport.

Dec 16th. Ah, Khabarovsk. How often I have flown over thee yet know nothing about you.
So…. that kind of leaves me with a bit of a necessary “To Be Continued” cliffhanger ending to this journal. Where am I going? How long will I be there? And will it be warmer than a Northern Hemisphere winter?
Until next time!

I just treated myself to a super-heavy-duty dose of “The World According to Bernd” (ie. back-to-back reading of this entry, the previous onePOTD entry, and the one about the protest) and I have decided that it’s pleasant to live in The World According to Bernd… especially as the only people I was expected to have heard of, I have (for a change)
=D
Please don’t ever stop writing these.
I’m totally fine with them being delayed… but Non-existant – the world would be a lesser place.

Oh, and December 5th is more than ‘something’. For the record :)

Ah, thank you so much for your comments and support. I’m certainly not looking to stop One Photo Per Day. If nothing else, it motivates me to try to make my life seem a little bit more interesting – sometimes I even convince myself!!

Always interesting posts from you, do I see a red dot on the non Pentax camera?
berndt2:
Erm….. yes (!) (?) – it’s a very unique camera to be able to use. It doesn’t quite match my “throw the Pentax and whatever lenses into my backpack and head out into the rain / snow / public transport / nighttime” philosophy of shooting, but when the weather improves and the days get longer, I’ll look forward to taking it out and getting to know it better!
Mel Brackstone...
Thoroughly enjoyable few weeks! Thank you!

Great postings. Dessert Storm indeed. And I love the first shot of all. Don’t stop doing this.

Thought your new toy is a Leica (red dot)!

Love the first photo fo the lil Fiat (at least I think it’s a Fiat!) zipping through the intersection all alone, ALA Italian Job. Another great read, keep ‘em coming mate. BTW, when’s your next premiere due out? I’m getting withdrawal symptoms from them. :-)
