Reflective

This little ?mantis? was less than 5cm long and clung to the roof of my car for all five minutes it took to drive home and take some photos of it.

I love the subtlety of the reflection – the paint on the car roof is by no means in perfect condition, but I think it kind of adds to the effect… and of course ‘reflection’ has a double meaning when added to a meditative-looking praying figure.

The Black’n’White conversion was necessary because the Red of the roof and the Yellow/Black of the insect simply didn’t work together for the theme

fantastic work – looks so fragile and beautiful – i love the b&w conversion as it gives it a rather robotic feel.

This is very cool, and almost looks machine-like somehow… I love the use of grayscale and the brightness of the reflection. Very unique and interesting capture that drew me in for a second, third, etc. look.

I love the way that the reflection looks like a skeletal version of the mantis. Nice work :o)

Doesn’t look real; looks like a metal sculpture. Some things are better in BW.

The b&w is excellent – I though it was a metallic structure at first in the thumbnail image. Amazing clarity and reflection and the plain background finishes it off perfectly!

It is exquisite – looks as if it is constructed as a framework for later development – It would be a favourite if it took up more of the surrounding space (eg – a tighter crop), which I feel would add real impact to it as an image. That reflection is wonderful!

Black and white works so well, I had a sense that it was a reflection on ice, perfect.
