Saviour on the Spilt Blood, Pillars by

The interior of the Church of the Saviour on the Spilt Blood, St Petersburg, Russia.

The Church of the Saviour on the Spilt Blood was built by Tsar Alexander III on the spot where the Tsar Alexander II of Russia was assassinated. they have even built the embankment further into the Canal to make sure the centre of the cathedral is in that exact place, thus its name ‘on the Spilt Blood’.
The entire interior is made Mosaic, placed by hand with millions of tiles approximately one centimeter square.
Ironically for all this effort this cathedral has never functioned as a church.
