Australian Face
Featured in Behind The Mask.
Featured in Digital Artists United.
The background is made from photos I took flying (as the pilot) over the ocean north of Papua New Guinea and the “Channel Country” in the Australian Outback. Overlaid is a photo of a model I shot with one side light.
Below is a photo of this work printed at 92 cm x 122 cm (36” x 48”) on foamcore and hanging in our lounge. Not sure if the colours below were super-saturated by the sunrise reflecting on that wall or what?!

The proceeds of all sales go to World Vision, an organisation dedicated to looking after children in Third World countries. .... EXCEPT, while it still runs through Phoenix Appeal, these proceeds will go to the RED CROSS VICTORIAN BUSHFIRE APPEAL.

Beautiful work !
Travis Easton
This is so creative and wonderful. No idea how you did it, but I like it.
Casey Herman replied
Thanks Travis … well, I also love your professional landscaping photos! I DID try to replicate the background years ago, but couldn’t remember the exact settings when I blended the two images. The foreground was a matter of firstly using a few layers with differing blend modes, and then using the “blend if” function. I then adjusted the curves to assist this, then some dodging and burning. Finally, a dose of hue/saturation layer adjustments (and masks) to get the colours to come thru the model’s head, which was shot in a darkened studio with a single light source. (Posted from a reply that wasn’t directly to you, but now I know that’s what I should do!)
Casey Herman
Thanks Caroline.

This is so beautiful. Awesome work
Casey Herman
Thanks Mia. I’m just about to get a canvas print of this one, but unfortunately, I’m gonna have to buy at a place other than RedBubble, cos I want it printed at 1000 mm x 750 mm.
mawaho
Lovely colour and textures.
Helene Kippert
Love this one – gorgeous!
bdazzled
Awesome work – quite extraordinary :-)
Casey Herman
Thanks Mawaho, Helene and bdazzled. It’s now hanging in our lounge, but not in canvas, it’s printed on foamcore and I increased the size to 1210 mm x 910 mm.
doreen01
Great effect and nice chromatic!
Casey Herman replied
Thank you doreen01. These are colours that survived many different processes, but essentially are the tones of an Australian desert combined with the ocean (Bismarck Sea) north of Papua New Guinea.
Antanas

Thanks Linaji … I’ve made a huge print of this (larger than we can get here at RB so far, hint hint, oh RB founders!) so that we can see more of it too.

Such a stunning image!
I don’t know if you’ve ever come across Chromodepth 3D glasses but some of your images ,like this one, look even more stunning through these!
Casey Herman replied
Hmm, thanks for the info, Sue. I’ll get back to the Chromodepth site to see what I have to do to print my own glasses (if I’ve understood that right!) ... and as for my images appearing a bit 3D … this one was a happy accident. I’ve tried to replicate this using exactly the same photos, but haven’t been able to reproduce this effect. Admittedly, I’ve also enhanced the difference between the colours, purely for visual effect. I’m pretty curious about these 3D glasses now!
Kendra Taber
