This is photo of Jennifer from Tony Ryan’s Empowered Beauty workshop on the weekend. I have chosen this one is the closest I got to a fashion kind of shot.
Brillaint work Ben, I really love how the dof and focus makes the model stand out so well against the the background street scene. Great pose and props too. Interesting that you used a 50mm f1.4 at max aperture, my 50mm f1.4 is a non AF Nikkor I’ve had for years, but maybe I’ve neglected it too long in favour of my AF zooms, might give it a go again soon :)
Thanks for the great comment Pete. I was kinda worried about the image mabye being to soft on the subject at 1.4 as it’s hard to get full sharpness, but the amount of bokeh in the background makes here stand so well. You should crack out your 50mm, lots of fun to be had :)
Love the colours and the overall mood. Also think you have captured her essence beautifully.
Thanks Tony. That means a lot as I wasn’t sure about how to do a fashion photo and still get the essence of beauty…good to know you can see it. Cheers and thanks again.
Great image Ben! Very nicely composed and I love the DOF and the connection with your subject is really fantastic. All around wonderful work :)
Hi Shelley, so glad you are enjoying this series of photos. It’s really cool of you to mention the connection with the subject as this is a really big deal for me. So thanks heaps for picking it up! :)

Fabulous, love the blue filter, gives it a kind of gritty feel.
That’s so cool that you get gritty out of this one, as that’s what I was going for…thanks E-Girl :)
