I Wanted an Ocean View

Everyone needs a little something to add meaning to their life. Trouble is, it can be so hard to get it from people these days!

I Wanted an Ocean View belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Everyday Life and WMG

Excuse me
Sorry to bother you but
There appears to be a mistake
I apologise in advance for
Any problems this could make
You see I asked for a place to get away from all the troubles in my mind
A place of tranquil silence and a place to just unwind
But all you seem to have given me is
A place to rest the night
I’d like to change my room Sir
I wonder if I might?

Excuse me
Sorry to bother you but
There appears to be a mistake
I can see now that your happy smile
And manners are all fake
You see I asked for an ocean view to soothe the pain within my soul
The poor little thing’s been chipped and scratched
I’d like to make it whole
But this dark and dusty little room?
I can barely stay the night!
With all due respect (which isn’t much)
I demand you put things right

Excuse me
Sorry to bother you but
There appears to be a mistake
Yes I know its five past midnight
But I’m still very much awake
You see I asked for a quiet, tidy room, and I wanted an ocean view
But counterfeited competence was all I got from you
I need a room with a little more
Than just a bed to stay the night
I’d like to change my room Sir
And I won’t go without a fight

Perfect. People are so polite as they rob you blind and give you exactly what you did not ask for and we tend to just smile and accept…......so this is a wonderful poem!! We should all carry it around and the next time we get crap! we should hand them out as leaflets :o) Revolution coming on :o)

  • Ben Ruskin replied

lol ! i’ll get the leaflets printed Sal :P hehe thank you for your comment :)

I love this! “I can see now that your happy smile
And manners are all fake” You captured right there! That is the worst quality to have. It does seem that people you pay for a service only smile because it’s regulation.
“The poor little thing’s been chipped and scratched
I’d like to make it whole” This bit I also love! It’s so true it feels like everyone has a little peice missing in this modern world. I really really love this poem another amazing read! You need to right more they cheer me up an lots of other people on Red b too!! :)

  • Ben Ruskin replied

aww thank you for your lovely comment Rachael :) i feel you really understand what i was trying to get at :) everyone does have a little something missing from their lives, if only some people wouldn’t sit there and smile at you instead of js..helping out.being genuine. wouldn’t that be nice hehe. thanks again :)

This is so incredibly awesome I really love it!!! It really got me thinking, about myself mostly. Too many of us dont demand the best this life has to offer, and I think that’s why we end up sad and dissapointed and hopeless.

  • Ben Ruskin replied

so true Jenni..if you settle for what people give you..chances are you’re gonna be dissapointed. it’s always worth asking for a little more in life :) thanks for taking the time to read and comment

It’s hard these days to find people, in my opinion, who are straight out blunt! Excellent work, fight on!

Smiling all the way through, though the sadness within this is clear. It’s just the way you said it that kept the smile on my face.
