Cabbage Patch Heroes
a scene from my childhood :)
Cabbage Patch Heroes belongs to the following groups:
All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Childhood and WMGStarting from scratch
I follow my gaze
To a simpler life
In much simpler days
The grass full of life
The air full of sound
We kick and we play through
Dead leaves on the ground
A forest of wonder
And through it we crawl
No adventure too big
In a garden so small
On a hill top so high
With not a care or a clue
Just a pile of old boxes
With a breathtaking view
Just a fall and a bump
All those painful lies
For once not the cause
Of the tears in my eyes
No heartbreak to dwell on
No wars worth a fight
And no way to come back here
Try as I might
Do you remember the whistling?
Of the wind in the trees
And the tale we were told
Of the birds and the bees
We cabbage patch heroes
With no horses to ride
We’ll challenge the world
With our sticks at our side

this is briliant!! The end verse is just immense! You’ve translated very fond memories onto a page with great elegance! This flows really well. Well done!

I love this! I wish there was a group just for all of us metric writers. I don’t think most people appreciate the cleverness of rhyme, I do it’s the only way I can write. Keep up the good work, I look forward to more!
