It was a pleasant day
Considering the forecasted rainstorm
A little overcast but what could I expect?
I sit alone and wait for the downpour
A mismatch of feelings creates this confusion to fill the gap
An emptiness that, although not complete
Still undeniably exists
Sure I can laugh it off
A smile lets the sun shine through the gap for a while
Until the clouds of doubt inevitably creep back
To smother us all with their
Metaphorical inconsistency
I can still see her silhouette as she walked away
The figure cut a striking contrast with the nothingness surrounding me
The perfume that lingers brings a single rain drop
To provide me with the warning sign I need
A sigh can be as long or short as you want it to be
Short and sharp to portray acceptance
Accepting, accept
Or, long and slow to show yourself
That it was never really worth it
Was it?
I look sky-wards towards the endless possibilities
No rain today, I decided
Short and sharp, I decided

Nice prose-poetry, reminds me of Pink Floyd’s “short, sharp shock”, like a nihilistic wake-up call from the sky.
