I want to make a masterpiece
He said
I want a golden coated
Simple, stylish
Diamond crusted
Wooden pile of
Nothing, with a meaning
Elaborate, without seeming
To be
Forced brilliance
That’s what I’ll make
He said

I’ll create a piece of art
He declared
As if it could be defined
With a few
Steps and guidelines
Ribbons and landmines
Rules to follow
Facts to swallow
And still
Hours and hours
With nothing to show
But a river of words
That doesn’t flow

Oh why oh why
Should it be so hard
To create the perfect piece of art?
He complained
