The Finale

The bright lights took him
And it seemed as though the journey could never end
Would never end
He vowed
Knowing this night to be his last

The darkness hid many surprises

The light passed through him
His soul pumped full of life given on loan
Sucked him dry
He knew deep down
This night would be his last

The darkness creeping closer

A sharp pain shook him
Its suddenness stripped away his bravado
Sobered him instantly
He clung to hope
Hating the fear that took its place

The darkness lay in wait

He lay there on the ground so helpless
The music still pounding away within him
The night remaining quiet
A silence so absolute
That none could quite dismiss it

The darkness claimed him
