Pictured here in 2012, he was the oldest living Fuzzy Wuzzy Angel, reportedly 107 years old. He came out to greet each new group of trekkers.
I had a photograph taken with him and shook his hand. He displayed his collection of medals & those given by other soldiers and visitors.
“Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels” was the name given by Australian troops to a group of Papua New Guinean people who, during World War II, assisted and escorted injured Australian troops down the Kokoda trail. (Wikipedia)
