Artist's Description

RIP Ondieki.
In his honour.
Pictured here in 2012, he was the oldest living Fuzzy Wuzzy Angel, reportedly 107 years old. He came out to greet each new group of trekkers.
I had a photograph taken with him and shook his hand. He displayed his collection of medals & those given by other soldiers and visitors.

“Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels” was the name given by Australian troops to a group of Papua New Guinean people who, during World War II, assisted and escorted injured Australian troops down the Kokoda trail. (Wikipedia)
Location: On the Kokoda Track, Papua New Guinea September 2012
Canon EOS 500D, f 5.6 , 1/100
