Check with Mel Brackstone. She’s familiar with lensbaby.

    buy a Canon….LOL!

Seriously though, lensbaby.com faq might help, otherwise turn the camera off and try it again. You used the lensbaby original didn’t you?

    canon – I don’t think so ;-)
Yeah the original did work ok on my NIKON, I ha a brief look on lensbaby site will look again. My 50 mm does it when the lens is not locked, remember I took it back into ddp like an idiot thinking it was broken and it was just a little switch lol

You get that error when the camera cannot contact a lens cpu. Normal for a non-cpu lens. Turn camera off, put in manual mode, turn back on. The cpu in the lens (if it has one) could be bad or the camera battery could be low. Good luck!

My understanding is that your camera will not read an f stop, because there is no comunication, which should make no difference.
If the camera is on manual it should work. Check your camera menu or parameters to make sure that there is no setting that reuires auto focus to be activated for the camera to fire. As you may be aware, when the auto focus function on your lense is selected, your camera will not fire unless it finds a focused subject, but if you select manual focus, you can take blurred pictures. If the parameters in your menu have a secondary option of this type, that may cause it. May be the cause.
Could also be you are using a Nikon :)
    Hope it helps some.

i took the camera on and off a million times and it finally worked, think it may have been the way i was ‘locking’ it on, don’t really know but it did eventually work – yet to see how they turned out…
