Business Card Advice - Please HELP!!! by Nicole Goggins

Posted on August 26, 2008

I have an art show coming up and have to have some business cards printed, and I haven’t a clue which one to use… would really appreciate some advice. Most of my images include children and I think the market I am going for is children’s portrait photography but I don’t want to be exclusive. If I have a photo of a child/children on my business card does it looks like that’s all I do? And which one should I use?

Here are a few options, these are the fronts and the back will be black with just the basic information ie phone website and email… any advice would be v much appreciated!!!

Ignore the brown shadow – the only way I knew how to show the pic was in the buy option and ‘mounted print’ is the only one without a border of some description…

I love the bottom 2 cards Nicole… they still showcase your talent for photographing children, but also show that your style is unique… no Pixie Photos Here!!!
( no offence intended to pixie photographers… I’m really just talking about mass production childrens photography… you know the type…)

Beautiful, I love number 3. I think the quality of your photography on the card will get people asking what else you do.

i like number 3… seem a bit more wide… no so specific

I agree with Mel, if you go with the mini moo cards or their business cards you can get a variety of prints showcasing your work in one batch.
My favourite above is No 3.

Definitely #3 Nicole – while it can be used to indicate the child photography part of your work …it doesn’t “scream out – kids” -beingan inquiring type of pic…gets the viewer inquiring too

    1. for me but I would try it with “photography” under your name.
  • Nicole Goggins:

thanks joolz – i wasn’t entirely happy with the font the way it was, i’ll try your suggestion…

number 3 but none of them seem to have any contact information on them.

  • Nicole Goggins:

all the contact information will be on the back

Number 3 says it all for me, it shows you have creativity and very able with a camera, not just another portrait photographer. The one thing I would change is the “photography” place that range left and align the P to the N in Nicole. Make the name smaller, same font size to the 4th one. This way it doesn’t interfere with you beautiful image. that was my 2 cents worth :)

  • Nicole Goggins:

Thanks so much Alf, i have done as you suggested – do you think this looks ok? The other thought is perhaps not having any writting on the front and putting all contact details including name on the back? any thoughts?

Although 3 and 4 appeal to the artist I think 2 would appeal more to the average parent – very cheery and eye catching!

My favourite is Number, but photography instead of photographer

would help if I typed the number hahaha, number 3

  • Nicole Goggins:

thanks so much for picking that up – didn’t even notice i put the wrong thing…

Your name says who you are, it’s your identity just like a logo. So it should be were it can be seen. In my opion you should also put the phone number at the front. If by any chance you should need to hang up your cards somewhere you want it to be seen first up.

Hi Nicole, I just adore #3, the child looking at something…you could put your phone number on the curb…they’re all great but 3 has my vote;)

  • Angela Stewart

Either #3 or #4 would be my personal choice Nicole, as they portray something entirely different to the average style portrait. I’ve used this for my cards, and was thrilled with the results (they arrived within a week to country Victoria…very fast service!). Good luck with your art show!!

  • Nicole Goggins:

thanks angela i’ll check them out

    #2……….then 3

    1. says it dead straight, here we are! – #3 is more classic, poetic, very good. But I’d go for the happy charm.

Thanks everyone for your wonderful help. I have decided to go with # 3 – I really appreciate you all taking the time to share your thoughts and give me some advice not only on which image to use but where to get them printed… I’ll let you know how they turned out!
