an antidote to pears

Wise advice from a friend’s father:
Never fall in love with a man’s potential.

an antidote to pears belongs to the following groups:

Lesbian and Bi-Women's Art, The Word Tree and WMG

I knew

We always do

Us women with dark eyes and darker hearts
And the intuition of the ages
Sending counsel
Along the wavesong of our blood

Not this one
He’ll never use your name
And read your diary
When your back is turned
And your heart is full

No…..nor him
His fear of his world
Will make him resent
Your sure, strong strides
And your weathered passport

Him?
What are you thinking?
You’ll never breathe deeply
With his eyes over your shoulder
And his grip on your arm

Scoundrel
Fool
Serial killer

And you

The wicked wench in me
Turned to the wise woman
And said soothingly
You’ve been working so hard.
You need a break.
I can take it from here

I saw the curl of your lips
The shrug of your shoulders
And the truth in your timbre
When you told me

“Bell, I can be a real bastard with women.

Just so you know.”

What kind of man are you
That you need to apologise
For fucking me over
In advance?

And what kind of woman am I
That I just smiled
And said nothing?
The mystery you read in my face
Was really the poison
Starting to spread.

But your eyes held that speck of violet
And you smelled like pears

So I placed my hand over the mouth
Of my wise woman
And whispered in her ear
This one will be worth it

And I leapt.

But I knew.
Us women with dark eyes and darker hearts
Always do.

OH hell yes!!! I’ve taken that fatal leap also more times than I’d care to admit.

This is just excellent, dearheart!!!! It speaks to me in a very authentic way that I don’t see much of around here!

Wonderfully written, there is no question….painful there is no question….exists there is no question…
I can’t help but think of what I wrote earlier today – Match
And remain optimistic that for every incineration there is a burning fire of life…

This I wish for you, and so much more….

Well written Lady, you capture the devil’s attraction and the conflict of desire for such danger in superb fashion.
From a woman who had dark eyes and a very damaged heart LISTEN TO THE WISE WOMAN!!! they are never worth it! lol :o)

I always, always listen to that wise voice. She’s taken care of me in many a dangerous situation. I’ve really only gagged her once – with this fucker – and I’m still choking on his poison to this day.

    Just makes the eyes blacker.

Bell, I’m not going to apologise for us men, afterall, I would be here a very long time. All I will say is that you have crafted the most fabulous Art from whatever dark place he took you to.

  • bellmusker replied

Thank you Roy, I appreciate that. This is in no way an indictment against all men – just this one with the violet eyes and cold, cold heart.

Do you want me to send the boys to have a word with him??

  • bellmusker replied

“Us women with dark eyes and damaged hearts”
I think I shall make this my life motto…
A great piece that hit really close to home for those of us who have been fucked over in advance…

  • bellmusker replied

Thank you; I’m so pleased that my piece spoke to you but at the same time sorry that you understand it as well as you do. If you know what I mean!

I followed this up recently with a piece that’s knocked much of the vitriol out of me where this man is concerned. it was a spell in words, and can be found here

  • bellmusker replied

  • bellmusker replied

April, the strangest thing just happened. Last night I put this piece to the top of my folio, though I hadn’t spoken to this pear man in a long time. And last night, he got in touch. And I know I need to come here and remember all the poison our relationship contained….ah, writing is sometimes the best therapy, hey?

Thanks for your comment, I always smile when you drop by my work.

PS am meeting him for coffee though….let’s see if the antidote is still as effective.

  • Kristin Reynolds

A-fucking-mazing. this kills! I’m one month shy of this very thing, my wise woman finally ripped her fucking gag off and screamed from the mountians top until i listened. right on. awesome! love it! Kristin :)

  • bellmusker replied

Kristin, maybe you can give me a lesson, for this pear man got in touch last night…... my wise woman has a husky voice from all the ‘wake up and deal with this!’ hollering she’s had to do! This piece has been lurking at the bottom of my writing for some time, but I put it back on top last night to remind me of all the lessons I’ve learned. May your wise woman keep her freedom, and your heart safe. And thanks for the lovely comment!

  • Kristin Reynolds

    Kristin Reynolds

My only lesson would be this: never listen to her voice filtering out of the man himself…oh, they will be sweet, as sweet as the sweetest nectar, but that is not her. no. that is her liquered up by lies and “too litte, too late”. hope you get my crazy, metaphor…metaphor is my bitch. :) anyway, good luck, you know. we always know. know it. and do. love, K :)
