This work is part of my current series “Entanglement”. It looks like my drawing may be exploring the psychological side of the theme. Time will tell. My mum won the doll 50 years ago. It was the embodiment of every little girl’s dream and I could always ensure social success by bringing it out to play. Everyone wanted a bride doll and no one thought it weird that toddler age dolls were dressed in wedding finery. Talk about social conditioning! I didn’t marry until I was 43 much to my mother’s disappointment which was exacerbated by the fact I wouldn’t wear the full bridal gear. It is a charcoal drawing on paper.
It’s very Miss Haversham from Great Expectations.
