This photo was taken at ’The Rocks" Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, and is from my ’Photographic Journal of Sydney" This was taken at a musuem called ’Susannah Place" a musuem devoted to the preservation of some of the Terrace Houses in ’Susannah Place" 1844 to 1990 and the working class families that use to live there. The musuem has an amazing array of everyday items that had been used by the residents, gas light fittings, old wooden stove, laundry copper to name a few.
I like this old Wooden stove becuase it is very similar to the one I use to cook on when I was first married. Mine was called an “Early Kooka” and had claw feet and legs and was free standing. I soon learnt how to regulate the temperature, by feeling the heat with my hand, because the temperature gauge had broken. It was shocker to cook with in Summer, you just want to lay down and pass out somewhere. But when the weather was cooler it was so beautiful, to sit there at night by the warm stove with a mug of tea. These stoves also make the best Aussie scones where the tops fall off them and you drizzle them with butter and a touch of plum jam:=}
Hubby is gone, along with the Stove….miss the Stove:=]
