Alligator Skin - Florida by

We took this while standing on a little bridge overlooking the marsh. We were at the Alligator Farm in Saint Augustine, Florida. This alligator was lying in the mud below us. His head was under the bridge and his feet were buried in the mud… which led us to this semi-abstract image of the skin. We played with the color on Photoshop to make it monotone.
Canon 20D and a Canon 28-105mm lens

the Farm in St. Aug is a great place (not only for gators, but for wading birds too) love this crop shot to highlight the textural nature of the gator. sure is fun to watch them jump out the water at feeding time! great shot.

  • Thanks! We used to live near there… so we visited a number of times and we always enjoyed it.
