A heart laid to waste.
She screams in vain protest
as her fortress falls.
Naked and exposed,
the harsh light of desolation
sears her tormented soul.
Clutching frantically she gathers around her
veils of deception and welcomes the blindness
that shrouds her vision
so she can continue to live, laugh
....love?
All the while she is waiting
(never knowing she is waiting),
waiting for the one
who will tear the veils from her eyes.
For only then will she truly be able to
see.

Rhana, life is so fragile in that one day to the next it can all change no matter how safe and secure you think you are. Indeed every day must count. The fact that you understand that puts you in the inside lane. I just learned that someone who once was very close to me will now have to battle cancer. Whatever has fallen on your grandfather, I hope he suffers minimal. Awesome peom by the way.
