The Fool

In the corner sits a fool,
her head, once held so high
now hangs between her knees
as hot tears of shame
fall silently to
drip onto her feet.

In the corner sits a fool
her golden locks,
once tossed in confidence
now fall victim
to the rough hacking of the
shears held in her hands.

In the corner sits a fool
the flowers of praise
once heaped upon her
now lie dead, turning to dust
borne away on the winds
of her own self disgust.

In the corner sits a fool
her fine raiment
once worn so proudly
now ripped to shreds
by the talons of the many
whose den she accidently stumbled upon.

In the corner sits a girl
broken but…
never beaten,
who belatedly realises
she has been played for a
fool

Her tears now spent,
she raises her head defiantly,
fixes a baleful stare
upon the cause of her suffering
and whispers…
never again

The song that plays right now….

It’s not far down to paradise
At least it’s not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
    And find tranquility
    The canvas can do miracles
    Just you wait and see
    Believe me

It’s not far to never never land
    No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy
    Of innocence again
    The canvas can do miracles
    Just you wait and see
    Believe me

    Sailing
    Takes me away
To where I’ve always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free

    Fantasy
It gets the best of me
    When I’m sailing
All caught up in the reverie
    Every word is a symphony
    Won’t you believe me

It’s not far back to sanity
At least it’s not for me
And when the wind is right you can sail away
    And find serenity
    The canvas can do miracles
    Just you wait and see
    Believe me

Beautifully written, a great observation of life and its suffering, if we allow it…..It is fine being played for a fool as long as you know it, therefore are allowing it, it is another matter when someone does it to you and you don’t know, you are not allowing then, you are a victim.

We are all fools in love… It is an emotional game that requires experience and guts. I know what you are feeling and hope you rise again.

Excellent, I love the way this twists, like a cat falling through the air, first heading hoplessly downward to fall broken on the floor only to right itself at the last minute and land on its feet. Yes, life deals us unexpected and painful things but every one has a paracute, even the fool, its the landing that makes all the difference.
    Powerful writing dear Bella.
