Guide this sailor back to land ~ Postcards from the edge by

I’m ripping into the 2012 with a new series of images Postcards from the edge.

In this series I am enthusiastically embracing my love of my iPhone, Hipstamatic and the convenience of always having a camera at hand (or in my pocket to be more precise) that doesn’t give me a backache lugging it around.

After a mixed bag holiday, mostly awesome highs but with some sickness and a terrible sadness thrown in, Guide this sailor back to land seemed an entirely appropriate first post of the year for me with its shining beacon of hope lighting up the landscape.

Wishing you all the best for a happy, successful 2012 filled with love and laughter.
xx

I was right there with you when you took this :)
    wow amazing….

wish I could hug you, gods I miss you

    xoxoxoxo

  • I know! I remember showing it to you as soon as I took it!

And your visit was absolutely the pinnacle of the awesome highs of my holiday! Mr B says hurry back soon, and the boys are in total agreeance. My beloved Sisters Beach, always my favourite place to be, that I thought could not possibly get any better, shined even brighter with you in it.

This is gorgeous Rhana, and so evocative of picture from a 1930’s book on exotic places :)

  • Thanks so much Matt :)) I really didn’t want to be the “photographer” while Lisa was here, and I was mostly very good – only getting my full kit out once – but my trusty iPhone was always there, tempting me with her wicked ways hehe

OMG those poppy seed heads look like little aliens! What an amazing shot! Best to you and yours for 2012!!! xxx

  • I know! You know Mel, I’m never really sure if I prefer the poppies in full bloom, or when they are on the wane like this. The flowers come out every season, and every year I think to myself “Yes! I definitely like the flowers better”… but then these little aliens appear and I’m thrown into chaos once again :)

Oh my the lighthouse is part of the crop of poppies reaching out to bring light me thinks!
I have visited a few lighthouses and I love the history the exudes and this stunning pic captures an emotive sense of history and a glimpse of a future in the same breath.
So very stunning. Big fav :O)

  • YAY! I’m so glad you got that Arcadia, it is what I was thinking when I was composing this shot :)

There was a little serendipitous magic happening this day… Lisa had said that she had always wanted to go up inside a lighthouse, and I had sadly informed her that this one was closed to the public. However, when we drove over there lo and behold! The door was open and they were running tours!!! I was totally floored. The tour guide was brilliant, and told us the story of the lighthouse with a passion born of her own family’s long history with the area.

Love the old feel about this Rhana, I too like lighthouses and I love poppies…in all ways. Love the drama in the clouds. Beautiful.

  • Hiya Polly! Thanks for stopping by… I hope you and yours had a wonderfully relaxing holiday season :)

Happy 2012 to you and your family too and I hope you are feeling heaps better now. x

  • Oh for sure, we are all good now. Had a nasty bout of gastro run its course through the whole family – bleurrrrgghh. Luckily (I guess lol) I was the first to get it, so I was over it and able to look after everyone else when it was their turn :)
