Attn: Tasmanian Photographers (or those who may be thinking of coming for a holiday)
Hi everyone,
Now that spring has finally sprung down here on the little island, I am thinking of putting together an outing to the Tarkine Rainforest up near Meunna way.
Normally a guided two and a half hour walk through the gorgeous rainforest surrounding the Tarkine Wilderness Lodge plus a delicious barbecue (or home cooked meal if the weather isn’t perfect) costs $55 per person. However our gracious host, Maree Jenkins, who has taken yours truly on the same walk many times with my camera understands that time works differently for us photographers. So she has kindly agreed to extend this to a half day walk at no extra cost.
The walk is suitable for all levels of fitness, although there are some uppy/downy bits :) I’m thinking we should organise this for some time in the next 4 to 6 weeks on either a Saturday or Sunday.
For those that may want to stay the night, accomodation will be available at The Lodge, or alternatively Meunna is halfway between Burnie and Stanley for alternative accommodation.
Edit: I forgot to mention that there is plenty of holiday accommodation in the most gorgeous place on the planet too. That would be my little coastal village of Sisters Beach ;)
If you think this sounds like something you might be interested in, either register your interest here, or send me a bubblemail. We would need at least five to ten people before we start looking at making any concrete plans.

And just for giggles… if you are very lucky, you may catch a glimpse of the extremely rare and elusive Canon Wombat with her baby on her back. Apparently she is a one of a kind ;)

Hey George! Maree runs walks all year round – I love winter the best ;) – so make sure you bookmark her site (see the link above). However, if you come to Tassie and don’t look me up I will be bitterly disappointed… :))

Actually, I would do this walk a thousand times over Matt, it is sooooooo incredibly beautiful and not nearly as taxing as that other walk that broke my beloved Canon :(

i WOULD love IT! Tarkine was on the top of my list to visit next when I had opportunities through work. Depending on when it is I’m not sure if I can make it due to work contract committments, but I am VERY keen!

Excellent Ian! I’ll be in contact when we start talking dates. Sadly there are no caravan parks in Sisters Beach, but there is a couple in Wynyard, one in Stanley and a nice one in the Somerset area, all of which are within an hour of where we will be walking.

I love Tasmania. Any excuse to go, but this is really close to the Melbourne & Victoria group weekend away so not sure how I’d go getting to both. Consider me a very enthusiastic maybe who can probably be bribed with chocolate.

Yep, I’m keen, now just have to see if work and family commitments will co-operate.
