On this Mothers Day eve I have cause to reflect on the many blessings that have been bestowed upon me.

1. two beautiful children, in perfect health, who tell me that they love me many times a day. Who don’t give a damn if it’s uncool to give mum a goodbye kiss at the bustop and who love the fact that mum is a mental case who dances around the house naked and chases them to bed with the BellyButton Monster.

1. a mum of my own who loves and supports me unconditionally, who wears her pride in her daughter on her sleeve for the whole world to see.

1. a mother-in-law who loves me as her own, who was a shoulder to cry on when I couldn’t find that perfect bra for the perfect day.

1. a step-mother, without all the wicked connotations that word brings. My Other Mum is one of my best friends, a sweet soul with a love that knows no bounds.

1. a Nanna who, although not of this earth any more, was as much a surrogate mother to me as I was growing up as a grandmother. She helped me to become the woman I am today, taught me that Fun should always be said and HAD with a captial F and gave the best damn cuddles in the whole freaking world.

There is no point to this journal, no response from you my constant reader, is needed. I just felt the need to remind myself of how incredibly lucky and loved I am.

And that realisation has to be the best damn Mothers Day present of all.
