OK, this is it. Might be a bit early to break open the Smirnoff, but at least pour yourself a good shot of coffee cause this is gonna go deep…

So I’m driving home from work with Aerosmith going down loud. As I often do these days. Stevie Tyler’s musing through a monologue over the intro to track 5….

So YOU tell ME how it’s gonna be this time…

As usual the ensuing ballad had me practically reduced to tears, as I am a hopeless romantic… but I was OK. Had dinner, watched a bit of Eastenders and an episode of Lost, then went up to the Sanctuary, booted up and logged on… and I thought, now where’s that self portrait of Rhana I told her I’d get back to…

It’s when I came to that face that it hit me like a ton of bricks. And if I hadn’t listened to track 5 earlier, I might have missed it altogether… and we’ll have to forget for just a minute that it’s you in the portrait, even though it’s the way you processed it that made it click. It is the personification of every would be romance I never had. All those times in my past where those dancing eyes have probed mine to see if it could work, and as many times where we’d reluctantly agreed it couldn’t. Maybe it’s because I liked them all with dark hair and piercing eyes that your portrait did that to me, but there’s something about your work that exudes romance and emotion (Paul Vanzella I think also touched on it) that works as a catalyst… like in your Beyond Blue… that picture throbs with romance and emotion without relying on facial expression to convey it. You probably don’t even know you do it, but that it comes naturally means you are a true artist.

So you, and probably anyone else who sees this, will think OK BB, enough of your silly crap and time to get back to earth. So I will, but your picture actually did take me there and I think if a picture can do that, it’s an amazing accomplishment.

I also think you and the Rev. Mr. Tyler should get to know each other, and in fact there’s a copy of the holy bible (Funk Testament) winging it’s way to you as I type… Having said all that, I’ve never kissed a girl with a stud… wonder what that’s like?

The positioning of your face within the frame is perfect. Great use of selective colouring on the eyes (even if I find the green somewhat disconcerting and kinda freaky!!). The way your hair falls across your face is just beautiful.
