Obsidian Enchantment

This is what you might call an unintentional collaboration.

I had no intentions of posting this to the bubble, but I sent it out to a few people to whom I had been raving about how gorgeous our lake looks when it is reflecting. Andrew Bosman asked if he could “borrow” my image. Of course I couldnt say no, especially when he used his pleases and thankyou’s…

Obsidian Enchantment… is what he sent back.

He has taken my merely pretty picture and turned it into something which is, in my opinion, out of this world! Thankyou Andrew, for seeing what I could not.

    Very nice you two.
It is not easy making a landscape stand out in B&W.

Just out of interests sake I thought I would share with you the original image that Andrew had to work with…

And also my first posted Enchant Me image of Lake Llewelyn…

I’m sure you can see why, after this, I will never be able to look at my lake the same way again…

Obsidian Enchantment, INDEED….I was just sitting here thinking, what could I write but that sums it up to perfection…
I feel so drawn into this image, lost and found as is the mirror reflection…..

both this and the original are special…. This one has great tones and concentrated detailed effects with the b&w, the original I think stands out more for the reflection and the dark shadows… both great – well done the two of you!

Rhana, I was in a hurry this evening with lots to do and thought I’d just breeze by and maybe give a quicj nod to something that grabbed me… then this came up. I looked back & forth between Andrew’s take and your original trying to figure out just what was blowing me away—until I realized what had happened. Your take on this beautifully tranquil lake makes it look so timeless, like it’s been there since the beginning of creation. What Andrew did was snap is fingers and blasted us back to pre-historic times just to prove the point. Your lake, prior to man. What an amazing picture.

Interesting and effective processing – the density of tones in this image is extraordinary and it suits the composition very well. Great collaboration this.
