Absence of Fear
As the planets finally aligned, last week saw me in the right place at the right time… with my camera!
I drive past this dam every time I go into town, and at last I captured it in this perfect mood.

wow, cool!
Kevin Skinner
Worth the wait! Absolutely sublime :-)
Rhana Griffin
replied
Some things really are worth waiting for Kevin… but 2 and a half years? I think there may have been some laziness on my part ;)
Deborah Parkin
what can I say – this is perfectin itself. The beauty of photography is that we really start to look at where we live – with or without our camera – we find beauty right in front of our noses that we would otherwise drive past.

That is so very true Deb… and the wonderful thing is, my boys seem to be “getting it” too. They will both on occaision point something out to me and go “Mum! That would make a great photo!” I love it when that happens…

Both picture and title feel
very good to me. :)
Rhana Griffin
replied
Feels good to me too Lee… I happened to be listening to that song while uploading this image. They kinda fit together in my mind.

WOW I’m blown away…I had to look many times to make sure I was not dreaming….
Amazing capture….xxx
Rhana Griffin
replied
I will take you here.
Then you will know for sure you are not dreaming xxx
skinnyman
amazing, i would never have made this a BW image. spectacular artistry rhana. :)
Rhana Griffin
replied
Thanks so much skinnyman :) When I am processing my images, I generally check them out in black and white just for curiosity. In this case B&W did more justice to the contours of the land than colour.
red addiction
Hauntingly gorgeous!!
Rhana Griffin
replied
Cheers Red!
Ric Alexander
Well done for the mono treatment, Not many would do that I guess but i think it is great. The water looks as if it is wavy not still, great effect.
Rhana Griffin
replied
I spent about 15 minutes taking shots here Ric.. when I first got there the water was like glass, but towards the end it had just started to ripple up, and that is when this shot was taken. As I said above, B&W did more justice to the contours of the land than colour imho.
Jeff Burns
Absolutely Gorgeous!
Rhana Griffin
replied
JEFF!! OMFG! Is that you?

Its just so pleasing to look at Rhan, minimal, empty and yet full of eyecandy …............ :))
Rhana Griffin
replied
Gold star and elephant stamp for you Richie. You totally “get” what this one is about for me.
Matt Penfold
Yes, that really is a “perfect mood” Rhana, you’ve captured the feel and the serenity beautifully :-)
Rhana Griffin
replied
Thanks Matt… It is a really tricky and dangerous spot on the highway to stop and take a photo, but luckily there is some roadworks going on at the moment so I snuck onto their access road ;)
Jeff Burns
Its actually me doll. LOL Long time no talk to for sure. Hope all is well
Rhana Griffin
replied
Glad to see your smiley face popping up Jeff :)
Geoff Coleman...
Wel worth the wait MS Muffin – this is so beautifully serene – superb use of b/w and that one solitary tree is exquisite.
Rhana Griffin
replied
It really is something to see in the flesh Geoff. Sometimes there are cows grazing in the paddock too and when they are reflecting as well it looks completely surreal.
Luka Skracic
Beautiful imagery Rhana, lovely work.
Rhana Griffin
replied
Thanks Luka :)
Deborah Parkin
I love it when my kids do that too – not so keen when Geoff does it – I tell him to get his own camera lol!!!
Rhana Griffin
replied
My hubby has threatened to get his own camera too… I’m not quite sure how I feel about that!
Andrew Bosman
As good as it gets Rhana.
Rhana Griffin
replied
Thanks Boz… but you know, your comment has really had me thinking. I think there may be a journal in it so I can organise my thoughts into some sort of coherence.

stunning work Rhana – just love this, from what looks like a gate at the top to the reflective tree, wonderful flavour and feel, you can almost melt inside this image… beautifully shot!
Rhana Griffin
replied
That is indeed your classic farm gate at the top of the hill Paul. Unfortunately I couldn’t get quite high enough to get the right perspective so that the gate would show in the dams reflection too.
canonman99
Superb all the way around
Rhana Griffin
replied
Cheers!
Stuart Chapman

Rhana Griffin

Heartfelt thanks Karin. Many days it seems like I’m doing the whole 2 steps forward, 3 steps back thing… but then I get an image like this and it renews my sense of faith in myself.

Jan Timmons
And I thought I was queen of procrastination. Still, a beautiful photo, well captured. During those 2 1/2 years the tree grew, too.
Rhana Griffin
replied
Never do today, what you can put off until tomorrow says I ;)
Jan Timmons
Precisely. Although if I thought I could find a tree and this lighting and quiet calm water, I might just forego that creed for an hour or so. Compelling scene.
Chloe .
