Let us share a story, you and I, one that begins "Once upon a time..."
Last night I showed this image to a friend who said it looked like something out of a storybook, so I thought it would be fun if we could write a shared story to go along with it. I’ll start off in the first comment, everyone please feel free to add a little more :)

Rhana Griffin
Once upon a time, (for all the best stories do start so) in a land not so far away, there lived a girl who was very, very sad. She was blessed with family and friends, and her faithful fluffy little pobblegonk who all loved her dearly, but….
Irene Burdell
she used to watch from the window as her friends all played outside, running around in and out of the tress. She was unable to walk and was confined to a wheel chair…
Adriana Glackin
not a real wheelchair, it was a metaphorical wheelchair. The girl was quite capable of walking and running and skipping through the leaves, just like her friends. she just preferred staying indoors, sometimes, with her pobblegonk friend – who was always there for her.
Rhana Griffin
Sometimes though, she felt like her world shifted slightly, so she felt kind of outside herself. When this happened she would hear voices whispering on the wind, not unkind voices but very very strange. She felt like should should be able to understand what they were saying, but she couldn’t quite grasp it. Each time this happened she fell back into her body with a thunk, and the feeling that she didn’t belong in this world would linger with her for days. As she grew older…
Jenni Tanner
the feeling lessened but every once in a while the voices would whistle through the leaves, reminding her of a time long forgotten. Memories of a childhood spent watching from her window. Watching others….. laughing, skipping and dancing through the trees. Watching but never joining in…..
Paul Tupman
... watching but never joining in… Well, that wasn’t the ideal for the “faithful” little old pobblegonk let me tell you. Melissa’s little friend Riggle had grown tiresome of staying at home long ago… tired of sitting at the window, envious of all the children outside playing and laughing.
Riggle had seen the joy in their faces, the big wide open smiles and bellowing laughter. One look at Melissa’s troubled face on that fateful Thursday afternoon and Riggles mind was made up… “I gotta get me some of dat, I gotta get me some fun”
Poor old Melissa watched on helplessly as little old Riggle took a hop, skip and a jump right on out of the window she had been peering from all of those years.
Melissa was nearly all but grown up now… I wouldn’t say blossoming though, not like Riggle, who had grown into quite the man about town!
The children outside had accepted the little pobblegonk into their group on that fateful Thursday. Queried that his right leg fell well short of his left and queried the fact that he was only 2ft 3 inches tall, but accepted him none-the-less…

Oh – just love this Rhana.. delicate light, strong textures and an overwhelming mood!

The Thursday, oh the Thursday, how later they wished that they’d all stayed inside, watching the leaves blow around in circles in the wind as the orange and reds formulated patterns in the ground as they continually descended to the ground.
The Thursday when after 958 years the pinina poinging blinkata tree came to life at the end of a deep and long slumber, still angry with the world and looking to take revenge for what originally happened over 4,000 years ago. Today’s the day that the secret came out, today’s the day…..
Paul Tupman
... yes, today was the day. But just not yet… not yet as Riggle sat pondering what the heck the van seller character was bringing to the story…anyway…
Rhana Griffin
And with Riggle playing on his mismatched legs, rogue van seller’s wandering about and the pinina poinging blinkata tree coming to life seeking revenge the girl thought she better take the time to grab a quick bite of supper, as it looked like things were about to get hairy, and who knew when she would have time to eat later?
David McMahon
But there was an eerie rustling that grew louder. It was caused by the leaves of the pinina poinging blinkata tree – for the tree itself was breathing. It was coming alive.
Stuart Chapman
Alive, and sitting waiting, knowing the transcended soul of the iva banshee doll was alive in the unsuspecting popplegonk. The poor little popplegonk having no recolection as to what happened all those years ago, waiting for the eclipse on the that Thursday to come back to life…
Craig Shadbolt
The eclipse – oh yes the eclipse.
Melissa knew that she needed pobblegonk now tonight
In fact Melissa knew that she needed pobblegonk more than ever
And if pobblegonk could only hold Melissa tight
They would be holding on forever
And only be making it right
Cos’ they would never be wrong together
And take it to the end of the line….
John Robb
They wandered in the light of the profound
Feet moving through the leaves
Hands brushing against the texture of the trees
The saffron fallen dreams lining the ground
pobblegonk visible to her through the palings
She saw a sight of beauty to behold
The light of heaven turning all into gold
The landscape she saw had no failings

a quiet moment for a Rhana aside
You are all totally rocking this out! Keep ‘em coming!

And then a loud, rude, crude, completely uninvited voice boomed above the hubbub: Rhana….great photo…..well done!
Vicki Ferrari
Beyond the trees, she could see the sky, so distant, so dark, yet why could she see it, if it were dark? Her catlike curiosity had been aroused. She wanted to climb the roughness of the tree, to get closer to that obscure vision… she started to climb, the friends below her, staring up at her climbing away were all caring, some cautiously, some cheering… but the more she climbed, the more distant that sky become. And the mood of the tree, as it came alive, seemed to both feed and scare her. Unsure what to do, she….......
Stuart Chapman
totally freaked out which was the worse thing she could have done. Struck with fear as to the height she’d now reached and the realisation that it had gone completely dark as the moon slipped over the sun removing all light from the world, stealing it away. Suddenly the tree sprung to life, Melissa just screamed and screamed and dropped pobblegonk from the pinina poinging blinkata tree. She watched as it fell helplessley to the ground before…
what?
she rubbed her eyes after seeing the tree reach out a branch to catch it.
What, she must have imagined it, musn’t she?
Next she…..

Next she…..
watched as a branch of the pinina poinging blinkata tree moved towards her grasping her pobblegonk and as it drew closer, she reached out very slowly and ssnatched him from the leaves. All of a sudden, the same branch began to wrap itself gently around her waist lifting and carrying her higher, much higher up into the far reaches of the trees leaves. So high that she was moving through clouds and then when she was almost at the tip of the tree, she was placed on a rather large branch. Reaching out she clung to the trunk and on closer inspection she thought she could see a door! Gingerly she reached out and pulled on the little wooden handle…........oh my, was that a little staircase leading down inside the trunk?.......

Down, down, down that staircase took her, to the home of the fairies. Feeling like a giant, watching where she stepped. She felt a gentle tugging on her hair and in her ear heard a whisper ” Hello new friend, welcome.” She could not believe what she had been missing, sitting at her window all those years. How to make for the time? She decided that she liked this much better and never again would she sit and wonder what it would be like to move out of that chair, never again would she wonder. She had found the outside and it was outside she decided to stay.
