You Shall Not Pass
When the conditions are right where I live we experience the wonderful phenomena of sea fog. The first one I experienced was when I was “in between” cameras. I was devastated! I have been hoping ever since that we would get another one…
I peered out the window today while I was on the phone and saw that today was the day! I had to make my apologies to my friend on the phone – a girl has to get her priorities right – and happily spent the next two hours snapping, with my young boys as my photography assistants.
The title of this piece is inspired by one of my favourite scenes in Lord of the Rings. Gandalf the mighty wizard gives his life to ensure the freedom of his friends… and so my friend today gave to me the same gift of freedom as I hastily hung up the phone to explore my sea fog.

Rhana, this is already an awesome image from the point of view of the mood and mystique youve captured in the fog, the colors, the lighting and the depth of focus. But the fact that you discovered this amazing composition is what gets me. No rules especially, just that the barbed wire, the post, it’s angle and the vanishing point behind it lined with the trees and fence work together to make this so incredibly compelling. This is a masterpiece even in its ability to ask me why it’s a masterpiece. I’ll be thinking of this all night!

This is so beautiful The single post in the middle of the avenue between the tress and the fence draws my eye down down the avenue. The fog adds a very dreamy mood to it. I’d like to sit, wrapped in a (water-proof blanket), leaning up against a tree, on that lush grass and day-dream for hours. Superb photo.
